A much needed update!

Um, so I have been very disenchanted with blogging lately but I suppose I am due for an update. So, Cameron finished our basement right before Thanksgiving, so that the Griffy's could stay with us. It was great fun to have them! Cam did an awesome job downstairs! We love letting Emma play with all her toys down there so they aren't crowding my living room. Emma is also excited about her new pink and green room that she will move into soon enough. We still have a few little odds and ends to finish up, but so far it has been so handy to have that extra guest room; Mel, Mike, Liza, Luke, Sandy, Aaron and Erica have all used it. So anyone else is welcome anytime! Sorry there are no pics, you will just have to come see it for yourself!

We had a great Thanksgiving, we ate at my parents and it was delicious. Emma wore her new shirt that said "I'm gunna be a big sister!" Yep, I'm pregnant! Emma showed her shirt to Nana first and it was super fun to tell everyone together. Then we sent a picture message to all of Cam's fam and it took them a minute to figure it out, but then there were congratulations all around. Allie also announced at dinner she is expecting as well, 19 days before me! So far for 2009 there will be at least 4 new Peck grandchildren!

So, I am 13 weeks and am due on June 19th, we couldn't be happier, we are so ready and so excited for this new burrito!

Okay, so can you believe Christmas is sooooo close! I can't. But it is finally starting to feel like Christmas because we have started doing Christmas things like......

Making and decorating Christmas sugar cookies. Note the Carey Panther yellow and blue.

Thanks to the Funk's for the food coloring, last minute on a Sunday night!

Getting a tree and decorating it! Emma was following Cam around the tree and carrying the lights for him (it was so cute and helpful!) but of course I got out the camera and she stopped.

Putting up Christmas decor!

Building a gingerbread house. Thanks Grandma Sandy! Emma was fascinated and didn't want to stop.

Going to see the Lights on Temple Square, so pretty!

Emma sitting on Santa's lap. She said she wanted "toys".

This holiday season has been, and will be, so much fun with her. She doesn't totally get it all but she does get a lot. Tonight when I laid her down she asked for Christmas songs (instead of the standby "I am a Child of God" "Twinkle" and "Rock a baby"). So I sang "Picture Christmas" "Silent Night" and "Oh, come all ye faithful" She loved them all, she is such a sweety. Merry Christmas!

Happy Halloween!

Emma sitting on the porch handing out candy to the trick or treaters in our neighborhood.

Cam took Emma trick or treating because I had to work. She was Tinkerbell and had a great time.

Here are our pumpkins! Happy Halloween.

Vegas Baby!

Emma and I went to Las Vegas to visit my fabulous sisters Allison and Melanie, we got back a couple of weeks ago but I am a little slow to blog it. We had such a fun time! We flew there and Emma did quite well on the plane. On the way to Vegas I had to be patted down at airport security, so retarded, they eventually decided it was the underwire in my bra! We stayed the first two nights and Mel's and the second two at Allie's. They were both so hospitable! It was so much fun to just get to spend time with them and their adorable families, you know, see those cute kids in their own elements. They are all such sweethearts and for the most part they all got along.

Emma loved playing with all the new exciting toys, she was totally entertained. Here are her and Eliza playing princesses.

Hannah taking Emma for a cruise in her Jeep.

The first evening there we went to this Pumpkin Patch by Mel's house. The kids rode rides, played in jump/bounce houses, ate cotton candy, did a straw bale maze, and even took a Pony Ride. Afterwards we went to dinner at In & Out.

Notice how filthy Emma's hands are. Vegas is DIRTY!

On the second day we went to the Springs Preserve and played in the gardens and the playground. We had a picnic, it was fun but I didn't take any pics. Did I mention that both Allie and I had horrible colds during the trip, we weren't really ourselves.

On the third day we went to the "dizzy park" by Allie's house. We walked there and also went to this cute candy store by her house and Emma picked out a gigantic sucker that she took like 10 licks of and then was done.

Hannah getting ready to spin Emma in the "strawberry" (see videos below)

The Nigburs have a Wii, and I had so much fun playing with their Wii Fitness, after I created my own Mii I got wicked good at ski jumping! But I lost everything else but it was still fun.

Emma and Luke just chilling.

Eliza, Emma, Hannah and Nick. So big and cute!

Oh, I forgot to mention the story about losing my wedding ring! I lost it at Mel's house, I left it on my bedside table and when I was packing up it was gone! I was freaking out! We are pretty sure that someone little hands took off with it. We asked all the kids about it but you know the kinds of answers you get from toddlers. We went through the trash, looked everywhere in her house and even checked Luke's poop for it. Finally we gave up and thought maybe later with a clearer head we would have more luck. Well needless to say I was a wreck. But late that night Mel called me while I was playing 4-mation with Keith and Allie and said she found it! It was in a box in the room I was staying in, I was so relieved, and so was she. A Happy Ending Hooray!

On the last night there in good old Vegas, Keith watched the kids while Allie and I went to this new seafood place by her house. Nice guy right! We had a great time, even though Emma only napped 2 out of 4 days and woke up crying in the middle of the night 2 out of 4 nights we still had a fabulous time. Thanks my Vegas-ites for being my best friends, I love ya and miss ya!

Below are some hilarious videos of the kids at the dizzy park. Don't think we are bad parents we were just in need of some entertainment.

Shout out to working moms!

So, here's a random post. I have been working some extra hours lately at work. I am going to visit my sisters in Vegas soon (Hooray!) and am flying so I am trying to get those tickets paid for, plus I have bought some new clothes (I didn't have very much in my new larger size!) and surprise, surprise we may (Cam would say I) have gone a little overborad with Emma's birthday. Regardless, I have been picking up extra at work.
So, I have always said when people ask me what I do for a living I have said that I am a stay at home mom. Which I think is mostly true. I only work one day a week (12 hours) and Emma is either with my mom or Cam or a combination. I don't feel that she is ever without excellent care. So thanks mom and Cami! However with these extra shifts I have had to work some other things out. I have had help from friends (thanks again Alicia) and from my rocking sister Georgia! Cam has also gone in early several times so he can come home early. Hold on, I promise I have a point.
So, it has been hard. I'm tired, the house is pretty messy, the laundry and dishes are backed up. Plus the worst part is I swear Emma is acting out because she is mad at me and feels a little abandoned. Even when we're home I feel I have lots of other things to do besides just have tea parties constantly.
So, I just wanted to say to working moms and single moms out there, you guys have it rough and I give you props for all you do! Also I want to say that I am so blessed to have so many people around me in my life that are willing to help. I am also so grateful for a husband who works so hard so that I usually only have to work just one day a week. He is so awesome and not only does he work I think that he helps out with Emma a ton more than most dads do, and he does a lot of cooking and helps occasionally with housework. So I am a pretty lucky gal, and just wanted you all to know that.

2 Year Photo Shoot

We went to the Little Grins Portrait Studio here in Stansbury to get Emma's 2 year old pictures taken. We found it to be very comparable to Kiddie Kandids. She was such a ham that we had a hard time to getting a normal smile out of her, but here are some of the better ones.

Emma's Birthday Party!

Well Emma's birthday is actually on Monday the 29th, but we decided to have a BBQ on Saturday to celebrate. My family that lives in Utah all came and Cam's mom and sister Kelly came down from Idaho. Plus we had several friends who came. Great fun was had by all. Here are some pics. Emma talking on the phone and eating cake! (Multi-tasking, I wonder where she learned that?)
Nana got her this adorable dress up stuff, this is Emma and our neighbor Ashley playing with it.
Then all the kids wanted in, Carter too?!
Tinkerbell was Emma's favorite, I think she likes the wings.
Aunt Kelly got her this adorable "Diva in Training" apron, so cute!
Emma opening one of her many presents. She got so spoiled rotten, we don't have enough room for all these new toys.
Emma loves Nemo
The birthday girl
Eating some more frosting

Emma loves to paint and she wanted her friends to do it with her.
The kids looked through the swimming pool filled with packing peanuts for treasures.
It made quite the mess! It took Cam a long time to clean it all up. Thanks Erica for helping.
Another present.

And Another.
The End.

Emma Jane Cook

So tomorrow my baby turns 2!

Two years ago tonight Cameron and I went into the hospital to be induced to have our baby girl. The induction didn't go so well and I had to have an emergency c-section. But luckily at 1:46 p.m. we had a healthy little girl who weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was beautiful and we loved her immediately.

She breast fed like a champ right from the beginning. She didn't practically sleep at all the entire 3 days we were in the hospital but she was happy and had lots of visits from friends and family who love her.

We were pretty nervous to take her home. But luckily both of our moms were big helpers.

This is her birth announcement photo. The next few months were quite a blur, I don't remember much. Emma was a pretty colicly baby and had reflux and I had a pretty rough time with some post partum depression. But through it all, everyday that girl made me smile. She is so beautiful and I never knew how much you could love another person. When I told my mom we were pregnant she got me a yellow vinyl board with the words "a child fills a place in your heart you never knew was empty" I still read that plaque several times a day (it is hanging in Emma's room in perfect viewing from the glider) and still marvel everyday at how much I love her and how she truly does fill my heart. I love you Emma Jane Jane, always know that!
